Canal Trust to receive Royal Patronage

The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust is very pleased to announce that Her Royal Highness,

The Duchess of Cornwall has agreed to be Patron of the Trust.

Her Royal Highness has a long association with Reybridge Mill near Lacock Wiltshire which is adjacent to the line of the canal  and close to the newly restored section at Naish Hill.

Trust Chief Executive Ken Oliver said ‘The Trustees are thrilled that Her Royal Highness has agreed to accept  our invitation to become Patron.

We appreciate the number of such requests is very large and we are very honoured to be chosen.  We think it is especially appropriate as our neighbouring restoration project, the Cotswold Canals, already have His Royal Highness Prince Charles as their Patron.  We can now see a natural synergy between these two important regional restoration projects and our respective Patrons.  I am sure it will be even more appropriate when the restoration of the two canals meet at Eisey Junction near Cricklade!

We look forward to showing Her Royal Highness the dedication and professional work of our volunteers during the next few years’.
