Management Changes at the Trust

The project to restore the 67 miles of the Wilts and Berks Canal has received a considerable boost.

Following last month´s appointment of Ken Oliver as its full time Chief Executive the Trust´s Council of Management has co-opted two new directors.

Replacing Ken as Chairman the Trustees are delighted to have persuaded John Laverick to join the project. John has recently taken early retirement from British Waterways, and was latterly their Operations Manager in the South West.

Also joining the Council of Management is Eddie Thomas C.Eng M.I.C.E. who has been appointed as Engineering Director. Eddie formerly worked for Halcrow and has much experience in water resource engineering

Ken Oliver commented "I am really excited at the prospect of starting to implement the plans and schemes that have been made possible by the tireless work of the Trust members over the last 25 years. Our Council of Management is a very strong team and we will continue to work with our Local Authority Partners to bring the canal back to life. In particular we are delighted that John has joined as Chairman. He has been a Trust member for some time and his experience with the Kennet and Avon and Cotswold Canals restorations will be invaluable"
